And just like that, another extraordinary year has come to an end as quickly as it came! It’s almost time to celebrate our memories and milestones of 2018 and ring in the new year with a whole lot of fun and festivities in Port Douglas. If you’re lucky enough to be spending this holiday season in the tropics, you’ll have no issues planning the perfect NYE when there are so many fantastic options to choose from.
Food, fireworks, and dancing are certainly on the agenda – and we can’t wait! Here’s some insight into what you can look forward to this New Years Eve in Port.
Fireworks
Treat yourself to some moments of pure magic as the spectacular fireworks light up the skies of Port Douglas this NYE. Whether you settle in for the early show at 8.30pm (perfect time for the kids!) or stay out until the second round at midnight, you’re bound to love the excitement that comes with the bright, colourful and dazzling displays. This is always a wonderful way to finish the year and welcome in the next!
Restaurants
We all know that one of the greatest ways to celebrate any special occasion is with an abundance of delicious food and drinks. Share the balmy summer night with friends and family and catch up over some mouth-watering dishes and cocktails. Don’t worry, organising the night will be an absolute breeze with so many outstanding restaurants to pick from!
Salsa Bar and Grill, Zinc, Watergate, 2 Fish and Sassi are some of our best recommendations for the evening. Each of these phenomenal diners are centrally located in town, and they all deliver the highest standard of delectable dishes and quality service every time. Please remember to call and book a reservation ASAP to avoid missing out.
Iron Bar
If you have a big night of partying in mind and want to end the year with a bang, the nightlife in our little coastal town will come to life at the Iron Bar on Macrossan Street this New Years. The iconic rustic pub is one of the local’s favourites, and this year, you can expect plenty of drinks, dancing and tunes to send you into 2019.
You can catch the midnight fireworks display and then head in with some friends to let the fun begin! This is your chance to let your hair down one last time before you count down into another remarkable year.
Sunset at Anzac Park
Anzac Park is without a doubt one of the most incredible places to relax and enjoy a blissful afternoon in Port Douglas. If you’re travelling with family or little ones, this heavenly spot right by the ocean is brilliant for a quiet and chilled out celebration.
Lay out a picnic blanket, bring your tastiest nibblies, and indulge in some beers or a glass of bubbly for the final glorious sunset of the year. The kids will have a playground, swings and plenty of space to run and play while you kick back amongst the palm trees and watch the sailboats coast by the Coral Sea and the Sugar Wharf. It’s a sensational experience, to say the least!
There’s nothing quite like an unforgettable celebration here in the tropics. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
