A Day in the Life of a Port Douglas Local
A Day in the Life of a Port Douglas Local
Let’s start off by saying that us PD locals like to think that we are some of the luckiest people in the world to live where we do! Our vibrant and tropical town never fails to deliver dreamy days that light you up on the inside, put a smile on your face and stay with you forever. That may sound crazy for anyone that hasn’t stepped foot in Port Douglas, but hold on – just you wait and see!
To give you some insight, we’re going to share some of the top things to do and places to see in a not-so-typical and frankly quite glamorous day that you very well can experience in Port Douglas! Actually, scratch that – this is a local’s every-day itinerary… we really have it good, don’t we?
Four Mile Beach Stroll
Wake up – there’s no need for sleep in paradise! Watch the sunrise over the sea of the iconic Four Mile Beach for an unforgettable start to your day. The beach is nice and close to where you’re located at Pool Resort, so it’s likely that a daily sandy stroll will quickly become apart of your holiday routine. Don’t forget to get your delicious morning coffee fix at Otz along the way!
Breakfast
Next stop, breakfast – the most important meal of the day. Luckily for us, we have an abundance of marvelous breaky spots right at our fingertips! Oh, and don’t forget about our incredible coffee shop line-up. We promise that they will come in handy with all the adventuring that you’ll undoubtedly be doing while holidaying in Tropical North Queensland! Now that breakfast is sorted… where shall we go?
Activities
And boy do we have a lot of them! You can explore the natural beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, chase magical waterfalls or swim until your heart’s content. Spend hours fishing in the great outdoors, play golf or pack up the car and head out on an awesome road trip! The opportunities are endless and we can promise you that you’ll never be bored.
Lunch
It’s lunchtime and we’re hungry after all that playing. You guessed it – we have some jaw-dropping cafes and restaurants for you to indulge in too! Do yourself a favour and try our fresh and local seafood while you can, and there are plenty of scrumptious vegan and vegetarian options as well. Many of these restaurants are centrally located in the heart of Port Douglas, but one of our all-time favourites is just around the corner – remember to check out the fabulous Choo Choo’s on St. Crispins.
Sunset Sail
It simply doesn’t get any better than sailing at sunset in Far North Queensland. Spend golden-hour being mesmerized by idyllic views of palm trees on the shoreline, the stunning Coral Sea and the glorious mountain ranges that belong to the ancient Daintree. Sailaway, Indigo PD and Shaolin are brilliant charters to get you out on the water for the afternoon, along with Lady Douglas and Aquarius. Whichever trip you embark on, you’re bound to have the sunset experience of a lifetime!
Dinners and Drinks
What a big day that was! Now to finish it off with a heavenly dinner and some celebratory beers and cocktails. As you’ve probably noticed by now, we’re a little spoiled for choice when it comes to food in Port Douglas – so there’s something for everyone to love. Don’t worry, we also have you covered if you need family friendly restaurants! If there’s one word to describe all of our town’s eateries – it’s YUM.
